WAYTM Podcast Tile Design
Podcast cover and colour suite for an offbeat global travel series
A bold, minimalist podcast tile designed for two energetic travellers documenting their spontaneous global journey. Inspired by The New Yorker’s wit and the reversed “Follow Me” photo trend, the illustration captures motion, chaos, and trust between two figures on the move. The colour palette is warm and adventurous, reflecting both the raw joy and unpredictability of travel.
Process + Creative Response
Gabby and Nick approached me with a clear sense of mood and audience — a travel podcast rooted in curiosity, chaos, and connection. Their brief was playful but specific: they envisioned a minimalist visual in the spirit of The New Yorker cartoons, with a reversed take on the "Follow Me" photo trend — one figure pulling the other toward the unknown.
I took their idea and translated it into a simple, symbolic composition: two figures in motion, hand in hand — one grounded, one lifted. It subtly mirrors the dynamic between them as travellers: the pull of adventure, the imbalance of unplanned travel, and the trust required to leap.
The shapes are abstract and organic, echoing unfamiliar terrain. Colour was used sparingly but with warmth — a nod to Gabby’s openness to vibrancy without losing Nick’s preference for simplicity. The bold type anchors the top of the square tile, ensuring clarity and legibility at thumbnail size — vital for podcast platforms.
Throughout the process, I prioritised storytelling, adaptability, and a sense of movement — designing an identity that reflected both their personalities and the immersive, no-safety-net journey they were offering listeners.
